Welcome to the estara Board Graeme

We're so pleased to welcome Dr Graeme McDonald to the estara Board as our newest Lived Experience Board Director.

Graeme joined the Board in March 2026, bringing with him a strong background in governance and science - skills that will play a real part in shaping where estara is headed. Having lived with a spinal cord injury for over 40 years, Graeme's voice and perspective will make sure lived experience stays central to how we make decisions.

Dr Graeme McDonald is a respected leader, scientist and educator. For more than 25 years, he worked as an exploration and resource geologist in the mining and resources industry, and today runs his own geological consulting business.

Throughout his career, Graeme has held managerial roles across a number of mining and exploration companies, working with large, multidisciplinary teams and community stakeholders. That experience has given him a solid grounding in company reporting and governance.

Graeme has lived with a spinal cord injury for over 40 years. A formal diagnosis of incomplete tetraplegia was made in 2019. His lived experience, combined with his scientific expertise and governance background, brings genuine diversity to the estara Board.

Graeme is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and currently serves as Chair of the Australian Institute of Geosciences (SA Branch).

Outside of work, he loves spending time with family and staying connected to sport and the outdoors.

We're really glad to have you with us, Graeme. Welcome to the estara team!
