Membership Terms and Conditions
Thank you for your interest in becoming an estara member. Membership is open to individuals, organisations, and businesses who share our commitment to inclusion and the rights of people with disability.
Please read these terms carefully before completing your application. By submitting your application, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.
1. Membership Categories
estara offers three membership categories:
Full Member
No charge
Free to all people living with a disability. estara Clients are opted in automatically.
Supporting Member
$50.00 per year
Family members and friends of people living with a disability, estara Board and staff, health professionals and interested members of the public.
Corporate Member
$100.00 per year
Organisations who wish to further estara’s vision of equal inclusion and participation.
Membership benefits:
Access to estara news and updates
Be invited to special events and educational programs
Have voting rights at Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Be eligible for election to the estara Board
Access to estara services
Note: The benefits above are subject to change. estara will give members reasonable notice of any changes.
2. Applying for Membership
To apply, select your preferred membership category and submit your application. Applications need to be submitted online and link can be found here.
By applying, you confirm that you understand and accept the following:
Under the Corporations Act, all members are required to contribute $10.00 in the unlikely event that estara is wound up. This obligation continues for up to 12 months after your membership ends.
On acceptance of your membership, you agree to be bound by estara's constitution, rules, and by-laws, as amended from time to time.
Membership is not confirmed until estara formally accepts your application. We reserve the right to decline an application without providing reasons.
About the winding-up contribution:
As a member under the Corporations Act, you may be required to contribute $10.00 if estara is wound up. This applies for up to 12 months after membership ends. While this is a legal requirement we are obligated to disclose, the likelihood of this occurring is very low.
3. Membership Fees and Payment
3.1 Full membership
Full membership has no annual fee and no payment obligations.
3.2 Supporting Member ($50 annually)
The annual fee of $50 is due at the time of application and each year on the anniversary of your membership start date.
3.3 Corporate Member ($100 annually)
The annual fee of $100 is due at the time of application and each year on the anniversary of your membership start date.
3.4 Updating your payment details
If you need to update your payment details ahead of an annual renewal, please contact our team directly. For security, we do not accept payment detail changes online or by email.

Our team is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
4. Cancelling Your Membership
You can cancel your membership at any time by contacting us. There is no lock-in period.
Please keep the following in mind:
Cancellation takes effect from the date we receive your request.
Annual membership fees are non-refundable. If you cancel before the end of your current membership year, no refund will be issued for the remaining period.
Free members may cancel at any time with no financial obligation.

5. Communications
All estara members, across all membership categories, are automatically opted in to receive communications from estara. These may include:
News and updates about estara's work
Information about events, programs, and services
Advocacy and sector updates relevant to people with disability
Annual reports and organisational news
If you would prefer not to receive these communications, you can opt out at any time by:

Using the unsubscribe link in any estara email
Opting out of general communications does not affect your membership. You will still receive communications that are necessary for managing your membership, such as renewal notices and payment receipts.
6. Privacy
estara collects and holds your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. We use your information to manage your membership and, where you have opted in, to keep you informed about our work.
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties without your consent, except where required by law.

7. Changes to These Terms
estara may update these terms from time to time. We will give members reasonable notice of any material changes, by email or by publishing updated terms on our website.
Continuing your membership after we have notified you of a change means you accept the updated terms.
