More opportunities to get involved in wheelchair sports in Mount Gambier!
Wheelchair sports are becoming more accessible in Mount Gambier, thanks to the donation of sportschairs to the Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre.
Estara's Clinical Lead, Lloyd, Occupational Therapist, Adam, and Physiotherapist, Lucy, recently handed over the donated sportschairs to help more people in the Limestone Coast community get involved in wheelchair basketball and other inclusive sporting activities.
The chairs will help remove barriers to participation by providing access to specialised equipment, giving more people the opportunity to try wheelchair sports, build confidence, stay active and connect with others.
A big thank you to Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre for donating the use of the venue. Such a great space to come and try new wheelchair sports.
Free weekly wheelchair basketball sessions
The Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre in Mount Gambier, is also hosting free weekly wheelchair basketball sessions, giving locals the chance to get involved, learn new skills and enjoy some friendly competition.
Supported by Estara, the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI), Sports Inclusion Limestone Coast, Connective and Active Communities Limestone Coast and Basketball SA, the sessions are all about having fun, staying active and making sport accessible to more people.

Do you have used wheelchair sports equipment or adaptive sporting equipment you no longer need?
Estara welcomes equipment donations that can be given a second life in the community. Depending on its condition and suitability, donated equipment may be passed on to someone who needs it, shared with community sporting programs or used at our wheelchair sports come-and-try events.
