2025/26 Inclusive Beach Days Update

Our Glenelg inclusive beach days, in partnership with City of Holdfast Bay, have always been a key event for estara and much loved by both the community, our clients and members.

After consultation with our clients, members, staff, and Board, we have made the difficult decision to delay the program until early 2027. This decision was not made lightly, as we know how much this initiative means to our community and how strongly it aligns with our commitment to inclusion and accessibility.

While enthusiasm and support remain high and current reports indicate the water is predominantly clear; the uncertainty around a possible recurrence of the algae bloom as we head into a warm summer creates challenges for the advanced planning required by participants and volunteers. This unpredictability has also led to understandable hesitation among some individuals about entering the water.

We know many of you will be disappointed the event will not be going ahead however we wanted to reassure you that we are still committed to making South Australian beaches more inclusive and plan to return even stronger for the 2026/27 summer season.

While we won’t be formally hosting the inclusive beach days like previous years, City of Holdfast Bay still have the mat available over summer, subject to tide times.
