estara is a registered NDIS provider and charity with a proud history of supporting people with spinal cord injury since 1963. We are now entering a pivotal new chapter, with a fresh strategic plan and a period of significant transformation ahead.
We are seeking experienced Board Directors who want to make a genuine community impact and help shape the future of an organisation with deep roots and real purpose. This is an opportunity to bring innovative, out-of-the-box thinking together with strong, practical governance and financial oversight, ensuring estara continues to thrive while staying true to why we exist.
By joining the estara Board, you will help guide an organisation with a long legacy into its next era, strengthening its impact today and for generations to come. Board Directors are remunerated positions.
What we are looking for
We’re looking for experienced Board Directors with strong executive leadership, governance (including AICD qualifications where possible) and strategy experience, who want to play a role in shaping estara’s future. Experience in the not-for-profit, disability or health sector would be an advantage, but is not essential.
To complement the skills already around the Board table, we’re particularly interested in people who bring expertise in one or more of the following identified areas:
Accounting and finance, including Chartered Accountants or Certified Practising Accountants with at least five years’ experience
Clinical governance and safety management
Technology, data and cybersecurity
Legal/ regulatory, risk and compliance management.
We warmly encourage members from all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander members, culturally and linguistically diverse members, and members from regional and remote areas to apply.

estara will provide:
A comprehensive induction program.
Ongoing governance training and development opportunities.
Mentoring and support to assist you in your role.

Commitment
Board meetings are currently held monthly (except for January) in person at estara’s head office in Dulwich during business hours. In addition, Directors participate in Committee meeting and out of session meetings as required.
