Position Title: Senior Physiotherapist

Division: Specialised Disability Support

Reporting to: Director - Specialised Disability Support

This role exists to deliver high quality physiotherapy intervention services to those living with a spinal cord injury and similar neurological conditions across South Australia to support optimise physical function, maximise independence and enhance ability to engage in activities of everyday living.

Key Performance Areas

 Service Provision

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate quality outreach and community-based physiotherapy programs and services including assisting with all areas of activities of daily living, mobility and improvements to functional capacity that build on client strengths, needs and priorities.  

  • Work on maintaining client independence through enhancing abilities, adapting the environment, assessment and modification, or education to clients and key stakeholders. 

  • Manage a caseload of clients with spinal cord injuries and other related diagnosis with rehabilitation goals.  Therapists will be required to apply evidence based best practise to goals and outcome measures. 

  • Establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with clients, client support network and relevant stakeholders to ensure their participation in goal setting, planning, decision making and reporting.  

  • Prepare and maintain assessment, observation, meeting, service data and progress records as required. 

  • Billing of required hours per each full-time equivalent workday as directed by the Director - Specialised Disability Support.

  • Collaborate with all members of the specialised disability support team with a positive and achievement-focused approach to contribute to the realisation of estara’s overarching strategy

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in Physiotherapy and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Demonstrated practical experience with Neurological/rehabilitation to meet the needs of clients with spinal cord injuries and other neurological conditions or physical disabilities.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to communicate with a diverse range of people and maintain a high level of customer service

  • Ability to work effectively in an autonomous role

  • Ability to respond with empathy and maintain calm in stressful circumstances

  • Problem-solving and time management skills

Desirable

  • Experience within the Disability sector

  • Knowledge of NDIS worker and quality and safeguarding requirements

Special Conditions

  • Current South Australian full drivers’ licence is essential

  • DHS Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening and any relevant Screenings as stipulated by DHS/NDIS with at least 6 months’ validity

  • Intrastate travel and work outside of normal business hours as required
